KLOOFBEAR'S OUT OF AFRICA
"NANA"
August 25, 1995 - April 27, 2008
Nana was the first Kloofbear born in America and she was everything I could want in a Newfie. She was so gentle and loving and is greatly missed. She lived to be 12 years and 8 months, my oldest living Newfoundland. She gave us many beautiful puppies. She is missed every day at Crossfields and there are too many empty spots which used to be hers. She will live on in our hearts and memories.

A friend wrote me these words after she heard that Nana had died:
I just today learned about Nana, I am so sorry. Nana, the Grande Madam of the Kloofbears; she was so sweet and so unassuming, I visualized her as always seeming to take a back seat to all the activities at Crossfields, but when all was said and done, it was quite clear who ruled the roost there. She seemed to love to nurture all the new life coming into her home as well as teach the little darlings their place when they reached that period in their life when even we wanted to clock them for their mischievous ways. But above all those reasons, I feel a deep sense of sadness as it was she who gave life to my precious Storm and for this I will always be eternally grateful. May they find each other in that special place as they reclaim their health, happiness and spirit once again.
We have planted a "Mariesii" tree with Nana's ashes.
